On October 27, 2022, in our College was held a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund in Kazakhstan (UNFPA) Akmarzhan Kusherbayeva, who is also a pop singer under the stage name KALIYA.
The meeting was organized for college students and took place in the talk show format, where the following issues were discussed:
– Gender equality and the battle with myths;
– Reproductive health, reproductive rights, personal responsibility;
– Gender-based violence. How can I contribute to the eradication of all types of violence?
UNFPA is the leading UN agency for creating a world in which every pregnancy is desirable, every birth is safe, and every young person can realize their potential.
UNFPA is expanding opportunities for women and young people to lead healthy and productive lives. Since UNFPA started working in 1969, the number of women dying from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth has halved.
“For too long, people have been reluctant to ask questions on topics such as puberty, menstruation, contraception, how to prevent unwanted pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections. And this undermines the most basic needs and rights of women, girls and youth,” – Akmarzhan Kusherbayeva.
